Arrow 2 Ballistic Missile Defence System

The Arrow 2 theatre ballistic missile defence system has been developed by the MLM Division of Israel Aerospace Industries and is in operation with the Israeli Defence Forces.

The system, carrying the codename Homa or Fence, is deployed in two batteries, one close to Tel Aviv and one to the south of Haifa. the first battery became operational in 2000, the second in 2002. a call on deployment of 3rd battery has not yet been taken, however it's under discussion for service entry in 2012.

Akash India Anti Aircraft Missile System

The Akash (sky) is an all-weather medium-range anti aircraft missile system developed in India. It provides multidirectional and multitarget area defence. The missile system was indigenously developed as a part of the integrated guided-missile development programme (IGMDP). In operation from 1983 to 2007, the programme developed a range of missiles, together with the Nag, Agni and Trishul missiles and the Prithvi ballistic missile.

The Akash missile can be launched from static or mobile platforms, like battle tanks, providing flexible deployment. The SAM can handle multitarget and destroy manoeuvring targets like unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), fighter aircraft, cruise missiles and missiles launched from helicopters.

The Akash missile has a launch weight of 720kg and measures 5.8m in length, 350mm diameter and 1,105mm wingspan. The missile can fly at a speed of up to Mach 2.5 and contains a height ceiling of 18km. The 60kg payload can use prefabricated tungsten alloy cubes warheads or a nuclear warhead.

Agni India Short-intermediate Range Ballistic Missil

The Agni is a short or intermediate-range ballistic missile. first tested at the interim test range in Chandipur off the coast of Orissa, India, in may 1989. The missile consists of one engine. In March 2010, a nuclear-capable Agni-I was test fired from the integrated test range at Wheeler Island off the Orissa coast.

The strap-down inertial navigation system uses an explicit guidance technique. The structure is formed of all-carbon composite materials to shield the payload during its re-entry stage.
